Faster ChargingThe standard charging cable supplied with most EVs in Australia is the familiar 240 volt one.
However, using this type of cable and charging arrangement assumes you will simply plug it in to the power point nearest your car, i.e. perhaps in the garage or carport, etc.
However, a typical wall socket won’t give you the best charging results or speeds.
This is because the power will be drawn from your general household power, i.e. competing with other household devices such as hot water systems, pool filter, microwave, air conditioner, etc.
The result is that the vehicle charge can take a very long time, e.g. up to 8 hours. This can translate into disruption or drop in the performance of the appliances mentioned, but it can also be very expensive in terms of your electricity charges.
A dedicated car charging station or charging point provides a separate circuit that will only be used to charge your car, and will give better and faster charging results.
